IsDB and AIIB Strengthen Strategic Cooperation at AlUlaCEME2025, Focusing on Climate Finance, Cross-Border Connectivity, and Global Advocacy

 



On the sidelines of the AlUlaCEME2025 event, the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Mr. Jin Liqun. The meeting aimed to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two institutions, building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2024.

During the discussions, key areas of collaboration were identified, including:

  1. Strengthening Operational Ties and Project Pipeline Exchange: Both institutions seek to optimize their operational processes and share knowledge to identify and develop high-impact projects in their respective regions.

  2. Enhancing Synergy in Climate Policy-Based Financing: The importance of aligning efforts to promote initiatives supporting the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient economies was emphasized, particularly in the context of current global challenges.

  3. Expanding Technical Assistance and Cross-Border Connectivity: The parties agreed to enhance collaboration in providing technical assistance and improving connectivity in strategic regions such as Central Asia and Africa, aiming to boost economic development and regional integration.

  4. Joint Advocacy at Major Global Forums: Both institutions committed to working together to advocate for policies and financing that support sustainable development at high-level international events.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both organizations to impactful strategic partnerships and explored new co-financing opportunities to benefit vulnerable communities. This dialogue reinforces their shared vision of promoting inclusive and sustainable development on a global scale.
