Tragic Plane Crash in Toronto: Delta Flight Overturns on Landing, Leaving Multiple Injured

A Delta Airlines aircraft suffered a serious accident while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, the largest in Canada and one of the busiest in North America. The plane, operating flight 4819 from Minneapolis (USA), ended up completely overturned on a snow-covered runway, according to shocking images shared on social media and broadcast by news outlets.

The crash left at least three people in critical condition. Among them is a minor who was urgently airlifted to Toronto’s Children's Hospital, along with a man in his 60s and a woman in her 40s, both of whom were also transported by medical helicopters to nearby hospitals. Additionally, 16 other people sustained various injuries.

Evacuation and Suspension of Operations

Airport authorities reported that all passengers and crew members had been accounted for and that emergency teams were working intensively at the crash site. As a precaution, all takeoff and landing operations at Pearson Airport were temporarily suspended.

Canada’s Minister of Transport, Anita Anand, stated on social media that she is closely monitoring the situation, describing the incident as "serious."

Initial reports from rescue teams indicated that eight people were receiving medical attention inside the aircraft. However, local police later confirmed that most occupants had been evacuated. Images from the scene show passengers and crew members walking around the aircraft’s fuselage, which appeared wingless and emitting smoke.

Weather Conditions and Recent Incidents

Although Toronto had been hit by heavy snowstorms in recent days—causing numerous flight cancellations and delays at Pearson Airport—weather conditions had significantly improved by Monday at the time of the crash.

This tragic incident comes amid a series of recent air accidents in North America. In late January, a military helicopter collided with a commercial plane in Washington, killing 67 people. Additionally, a medical transport plane crashed in Philadelphia, leaving at least seven dead.

Investigations into the cause of the Toronto crash are ongoing, as authorities assess the damage and possible mechanical or human errors that may have contributed to this dramatic landing.
